Supernova SN2000E
NGC6951: V Filter (January 26,
2000)
A new supernova (SN2000E) was discovered on Jan 26 with the Teramo 0.72-m TNT telescope in the spiral galaxy NGC 6951 located in the Cepheus constellation, the distance of the parent galaxy is about 24 Mpc (80 million of light years).
NGC6951: J Filter (January 26,
2000)
The CCD images were
obtained in BVR filters with exposure times ranging from 300 sec
to 900 sec and the resulting apparent magnitude of the supernova is V=14.3
mag (on Jan 26.73 U.T.).
A first look at the
observational data suggests that SN2000E is a type Ia event, few days before
maximum light.
